Facebook Viewpoints rewards you for participating in programs like tasks, research, surveys or trying new products. Data from Facebook Viewpoints is used to help create better apps and services, and to benefit the community.

Account

Some of the emails you’ll receive from Facebook Viewpoints are essential to your participation. However, you have the option to receive additional emails, like newsletters and community updates.

To change your email settings:

  1. Open the Viewpoints app on your iOS or Android device.
  2. Tap Account at the bottom.
  3. Select Email Settings.
  4. Tap the box next to Also allow Viewpoints to send newsletters and community updates to this email.

To delete your Facebook Viewpoints account:

  1. Open the Facebook Viewpoints app for iOS or Android.
  2. Tap Account at the bottom.
  3. Select Delete Account
  4. Tap Delete Account.

If you have not received your confirmation email, make sure to check your Junk, Spam, and Trash folders within your inbox. The email will be sent from Facebook Viewpoints.

To resend the confirmation email:

  1. Open the Facebook Viewpoints app for iOS or Android.

  3. Select Email Settings.
  4. Tap Resend confirmation email.

Since specific program eligibility may vary based on the needs of each Facebook Viewpoints program and your location, programs aren’t always offered to everyone. However, we’re always working on creating new programs, and will let you know when programs become available for you through email or push notifications.

You earn points each time you successfully complete a program. You can also view your rewards from within Facebook Viewpoints.

  1. Open the Facebook Viewpoints app on your iOS or Android device.
  2. Sign in and tap Rewards at the bottom.

Points have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged, traded or shared with others. All of your points will expire five years from the date on which you last earned any points.

If you only complete part of a program, you won’t earn any points and any program information provided will be deleted.

How do I participate?

Download the Study app on your primary phone. Follow the steps to set up the program and turn on the apps usage permission. The Study app runs in the background, so use your phone normally. Participation in the Study program is by invitation only.

How does the program help Facebook?

Insights from this program help us learn which apps people value and how they're used. That way, we can build better products for Facebook and the community.

What happens if I leave the program?

At any time, you can choose to leave the program, or we may decide to end your participation. If this happens, you won't be able to return to the Study program. We will stop analyzing new apps usage data, and you'll receive 250 points for your last week of participation. You'll need to uninstall the Study app to end all data collection by the Study app.

What info does Study collect?

Through the Study app, we collect and analyze your apps usage data. This includes info about:

  • The apps installed on your phone
  • Time you spend using apps
  • Your country, device, network type, carrier and language settings
  • Features that you use in certain apps, like home screen or support
How does Facebook use this info?

We gain insights using data from groups of participants for business and product research

  • Your info helps us learn which apps people value and how they’re used
  • We’re able to better understand our community to improve Facebook Company Products
  • The Study app doesn’t collect user IDs, passwords or content people share, including messages
  • We don’t sell data from this app to third parties

To analyze data from the Study app, we may reference other info Facebook Viewpoints and Facebook have about you, such as your age, gender and how you use Facebook Company Products. This allows us to learn more about how you use different services.

How does this affect my experience on Facebook Company Products?

We don't add the apps usage data we collect through your participation in the Study program to accounts on other Facebook Company Products.

Your apps usage data will not be used to personalize your experience, including to provide and improve ads for you and others, on Facebook Company Products.

However, info you provided to Facebook Viewpoints or Facebook, such as your age, country and gender, may be used to personalize your experience, including to provide and improve ads for you and others, on Facebook Company Products.

Can I share my phone with others while participating in Study?

People participating in the Study program may not share their phone with others or allow others to access or use their phone. However, we're working toward supporting this in the future.

Payment

When you join Facebook Viewpoints, we'll let you know how many points you need in order to receive a payment. Every time you reach that amount of points, you'll receive a payment sent directly to your PayPal account.

Your payment should be transferred to your PayPal account within 7 to 10 days of you reaching the amount of points needed to receive a reward.

Your payment will be sent directly to your PayPal account. To receive payments, you'll need to verify your PayPal account. Payments can only be sent to a verified PayPal account.

You will only be prompted to connect your PayPal account right before you reach the amount of points needed to receive a reward. If you’re having trouble connecting your PayPal account, visit the PayPal Help Center.

There are no fees associated with participating in Viewpoints.

A payment confirmation will be emailed to you every time you receive a payment. You can also find payment details in Rewards.

  2. Sign in and tap Rewards at the bottom.

It can take up to 10 days for your payment to reach your PayPal account.

If your payment has been in progress for more than 10 days, or if you received an email or push notification stating that there was a problem with processing your payment, make sure your PayPal account is verified and your PayPal email is confirmed.

For questions related to PayPal, visit the PayPal Help Center. If you’re still having problems, contact Facebook Viewpoints Payment Support from the app.

Here's what happens when you delete your Facebook Viewpoints account:

  • If you provided your PayPal details at any time, you won’t be able to create a new account for one year.
  • If you did not provide your PayPal details, you won’t be able to create a new account for 30 days.
  • You’ll no longer be able to log into your Facebook Viewpoints account to view your program history and reward history, and your points will be lost.
  • You’ll no longer receive emails or push notifications from Facebook Viewpoints.
  • We may retain limited identifiable information in accordance with our Facebook Viewpoints Data Policy and applicable laws.
