I'm excited to have found your site. I've traveled parts of the Old National Road http://minnemom.com/2009/02/10/s-bridges -along-the-national-road-in-ohio/, the Lincoln Highway http://minnemom.com/2009/11/16/lincoln-h ighway-grand-junction-ia/
, and even ND's Old Red Ten http://minnemom.com/2009/08/31/north-dak ota-old-r...ed-old-ten-scenic-byway/, but it wasn't until recently that I learned of the Jefferson Highway that practically runs in my backyard. I have indeed unknowingly driven parts of this road and look forward to following more of its route in the future now that I know what I'm looking for. Thanks for your work in publicizing this historic route.

T Lee Horne III US Hwy 61 follows a path from New Orleans north, turning east of Jefferson Hwy through the mid section of the US and ending up in Duluth, Minnesota from there you have to catch another Hwy to get to Canada. I took US 53. Now that I have found this page and the site associated with maps I'll have to give this a ride, perhaps next spring.

PITTSBURG, Kan. | The old Jefferson Highway was the first road to traverse North America from north to south and possibly the first dedicated international highway in the world. So why is it nearly forgotten ...

Sherry Schwartz Thank you for bringing much needed and delayed publicity to a stretch of long-forgotten highway that was, and still is today, so very important. Perhaps now our politicians and business people will work together and renew its vigor like Airline Hwy. This is prime historical real estate that just needs some redevelopmen...t. Come on, where is Pres Kabacoff or any other leading land developer? Get on the bandwagon!! I want to see retail shops and new restaurants. Don't let this historical treasure decline any further!

Tushanna Boaz I used to live on Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge. I always wondered why it was called Old Jefferson by the locals. Was shocked to find out from you that it originally went all the way north to Winnipeg Canada. Thanks for all your work and research on this historic highway. Hope to get a chance to travel it's full length someday.

Sharon Tate Mike, Glad you are home and the JH trip was so much fun. I always am glad to get home, too. Sharon
