Friends of the Osa Red-capped Manakins
This lek of 6 or more Red-capped Manakins were performing a courtship display. When walking through the forest, the clicking sounds that they make with their wings will often draw your attention before you see the birds. There must have been a female in the area, but ...as she is much more cryptic we didn't get a good look. Please visit us at www.osaconservation.org and help us conserve these birds' habitat.

Friends of the Osa Howler Monkeys at Rio Coyunda
We had heard these howler monkeys in the morning when we crossed the Rio Coyunda on the Cerro Osa property, but we couldn't get a good look at them. On our way back up the hill a couple of hours later, we caught this footage as they were immediately next to the trail. ... It was interesting to see the ever-curious spider monkey enter the scene to see what the commotion was about. Friends of the Osa Spider trying to eat snake
This footage was captured on the trails of Friends of the Osa's Osa Biodiversity Center. It looks like the spider was planning on eating this snake. The snake had other ideas. Could this be new to science? Has anybody ever seen this before? San José (elpais.cr)- Una de las zonas ecológicas más valiosas de Costa Rica ya tiene enemigos, que pretenden desarrollar en el sur del país el "Proyecto Rincón" para la explotación de una mina aurífera-acuífera.

Stacey De Polo really looking forward to helping out with this facebook page. our stay at the osa biodiversity center has been amazing so far. the turtles are so precious.

Dustin Bowdler I think the effort for helping cavity nesting birds is excellent. Is there anything we can do to help the OSA's marine resources?

Adrian Forsyth Tom, Drew, Yes please we need climbers- we are starting a nest box program for all kinds of cavity nesting birds and need brave souls to place boxes. I will write you more as we get boxes built. Thanks, Adrian

Tom Briggs Joined the cause last week, but didn't see myself here as a fan. I'm retired now, with lots of time to donate. If there are any projects that could use an extra hand please let me know. Like Drew, I'm pretty good with the tree climbing and other rope access things. I'm SPRAT certified and ready to go to work!

Drew Guelzow Let me know if there are any research projects that could use the help of a tree climber. Perhaps some of the lapa boxes.
