For a few years I have been trying to create a "distributed cluster storage system" (see below) on standard Linux hardware. I have been unsuccessful. I have looked into buying one and they do exist, but are so expensive I can't afford one. ...

Carl Claas To tell you the truth I am still learning Linux and Cloud computing sounds like a way to save your data to several different computers. What happens if one of those computers crash? Since part of your data is now gone how hard would it be to repair it or is it unrepairable? I think it is bad policy to split your dat...a among so many computers. Would you have to do a backup to a single disk every day? Just to show how little I know about Linux. Sorry for my ramblings. But that is what I see.
